Homer 33C students head back to school

Class is back in session for Homer School District 33C.

On Aug. 23, teachers and staff welcomed 3,669 students back to school for the 2016-17 school year.

“Have a great first day,” bus driver Tom Pratt told students as they arrived at Hadley Middle School shortly before 8 a.m.

It was a sentiment echoed across the district as students arrived at all six Homer 33C schools: Homer Junior High School, Hadley Middle School, Goodings Grove School, Luther J. Schilling School, William E. Young School and William J. Butler School.

Principals Troy Mitchell, Kristen Schroeder, Ann Christie, Candis Gasa, Mike Szopinski and Melissa Onesto were among the first to greet students as they arrived for the first day.

“Welcome back,” Gasa told students as they stepped off the bus. “We’ve been waiting for you.”
